I'm Leo Bancroft (he/him), I'm the Regional Coordinator for ReconcilingWorks for Region 1 (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska). I am new to this position, starting in this role after Karen and Paul Jolly retired from 11 years of faithful service.
I'm also a new board member for ReconcilingWorks, which is the non-profit organization that walks alongside the Lutheran church (ELCA) to advocate for the LGBTQ community.
God's love is big enough for everyone, and I am committed to helping churches be places of love, belonging and welcome for all, especially those in the LGBT community.
Region 1 includes Oregon, Montana, Alaska, Idaho and Washington, and I am a volunteer with a day job in the tech world. I wanted to put together this online newsletter to give us all a chance to connect, teach, inspire, encourage, and help one another.
I am a trans man with an occasional blog.I am a lifelong Lutheran, with a Masters in Systematic Theology from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley through the Graduate Theological Union. I've also had periods of depression and faith crises, and sometimes get pretty frustrated with God for allowing injustice and suffering.
But I want to do my part to make a difference in the world.
I believe deep in my heart that God's love and hospitality are so big, that nothing we can do can separate us from God's love. All of God's children are worthy of love, welcome and acceptance, regardless of the walls that we try to build up between us.
